India’s participation in the Paris Paralympic Games 2024 came to an end on Sunday, with Pooja Ojha becoming the final competitor. Regretfully, Ojha was disqualified from the tournament after failing to advance to the Women’s Kayak 200 meters finals. India’s greatest successful Games campaign was thus achieved when they concluded the Paris Paralympics with a total of 29 medals—seven gold, nine silver, and thirteen bronze. India’s position on the points table was 18th, courtesy of these 29 medals. Pakistan, who took part in the competition, only won one bronze medal and finished the campaign in 79th place.

The old favourites at the Paralympics, such China, Great Britain, the USA, Italy, and others, fared remarkably well, placing among the top 10 nations, in contrast to India. India hopes to improve on its impressive performance in Paris by competing in the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.

Naudeep Singh earned a gold medal in the men’s javelin throw (F41 category) on Saturday, giving India its 29th and last medal of the Paris Paralympic Games.
Naudeep, a competitor in the short-statured athletes’ division, initially placed second with a throw of 47.32 meters, trailing China’s Sun Pengxiang, the world record holder. But Naudeep’s silver was raised to an extraordinary gold after Iran’s Sadegh Beit Sayah was disqualified for consistently collecting dubious flags.

Naudeep’s silver was transformed into an exceptional gold. With 44.72 meters, Pengxiang won the silver medal.

Despite setting a new Paralympic record with his final throw of 47.64 meters, Sayah actually outscored everyone, but his actions cost him the medal. Athletes are not allowed to make any political gestures during competitions, according to International Paralympic Committee regulations, and Sayah’s actions was deemed unsportsmanlike and inappropriate, so she was disqualified from the results.

Simran won a bronze medal in the Women’s 200 meters (T12) event at the same venue with her coach Abhay Singh, recording a strong personal best time of 24.75 seconds.
The current world champion in this sport is a 24-year-old athlete from Delhi who was born prematurely and has visual impairments.

winning career was salvaged by winning medal on Saturday, after she had previously in the Games finished fourth in the 100 meters.

India won a total of 17 medals in track and field events, including four gold. China led the standings with 208 medals, including 90 gold, while the nation came in at number fifteen overall.
Naudeep’s anguish at placing fourth at the Tokyo Games was somewhat eased by her gold medal.

Naudeep, who works as an income tax inspector, began participating in the sport in 2017 and has already won five medals at the national level. He won a bronze medal in the Para World Championships earlier this year.

Conversely, Simran took home three gold medals in the 100, 200, and long jump at the first-ever Khelo India Para Games in December of last year, She had won two silver medals at the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China, the previous year.
